Introducing FootGolf! Querencia is pleased to offer yet another opportunity for activity and family fun at El Parque – just across the street from the Courts at the Club Village! FootGolf is a precision sport which combines the popular sports of soccer and golf -- though more closely related to golf. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. Basically, a player kicks a regulation #5 soccer ball on the fairway of a course into a 20 inch (52 cm) cup in as few shots as possible.

The History of FootGolf

The origins of FootGolf are somewhat unclear as they can be attributed to many countries or people at the same time, as early as 2001. The first nine-hole FootGolf tournament on a golf course, and played as the sport is known today, was organized in the Netherlands in 2008 by Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten, and played by a mix of Dutch and Belgian professional footballers.

Jansen learned of the sport from Dutch footballer Willem Korsten, who recalled playing a similar game during his time with British club Tottenham Hotspur, who would end training sessions by kicking the ball from the pitch back to the changing rooms in as short a time as possible. Later Belgium and Hungary switched from playing in parks to golf courses and the game was introduced to Argentina in 2010.
The American FootGolf League was founded in 2011. The game was internationally publicized, and countries worldwide started collaborating on the development of the game. FootGolf has been recognized or is in the process of being recognized as a sport in many countries. FootGolf as a game has been played around the world since forever but, as a sport is regulated by the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG) since July, 2012.

Every Saturday at 10:00 am join us for a fun, all-ages opening of the new FootGolf course at Querencia.
We will meet at the tunnel near the pickleball courts to play on the El Parque course – not our 18-hole Tom Fazio course.

Learn about the sport and test your FootGolf skills in an easy, relaxed environment with friends and family! This exciting new activity is spread out over the entire Parque giving you another option for outdoor, active family time.

Players usually play in groups of four and it should take about 1 hour to complete the 9 hole course.  But keep in mind, this is a leisure sport. So, come play as few or as many holes as you like with as few or as many people you like!

Querencia offers nearly 9 miles of trails for all skill-levels. From mountain ridges to the Sea of Cortez coastline, find trails weaving a diverse landscape throughout the community.
