Idyllic high sierra desert and seascapes are the backdrop as Artists & Scholars in Residence inspire, educate, challenge and offer fresh perspectives to the Querencia community. With the success of the previous year’s inaugural Speaker Series, a robust roster of speakers, notable authors, political figures and renowned innovators have been assembled for 2020. Enjoy enriching presentations and an evening at Querencia.

We have an amazingly varied and accomplished membership who are pioneers or experts in their fields. Dr. Philippon is the Managing Partner of The Steadman Clinic and Co-Chairman of Steadman Philippon Research Institute and is one of the world's leading orthopedic surgeons. Charles was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up his laser focus was on both academics and athletics, specifically basketball throughout high school.  An All-American recognized player, Charles went on to play at Catholic University and one time scored 60 points in a game. Post college, Charles spent time in Antarctica, worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, served one year in Vietnam and went on to be a leader within the field of human resources for global corporations. Video>>

Mark has more than 40 years of experience in commercial and investment banking, with the last dozen years specifically investing in bankrupt companies around the world. He’s served on 20 public and private company boards, plus many non-profits like Jazz at Lincoln Center.
